Resume
The beauty of the natural world is where I retreat to, conveyed through wax and pigment. I’ve been immersed in the encaustic medium for a decade. Looking at my work, most would consider me a landscape painter. I consider myself an encaustic painter.
Encaustic medium has opened me to being more experimental. There is more expression in wax than with other mediums. This can be found in the visceral textures formed by accretion, a buildup of layers of wax. Each painting is a discovery of a new location. I use the same vehicle to arrive there but each journey is modified in some way making each image a new experience.
