Artist Statement

Kandinsky states, "Color is a power which directly influences the soul." I concur as color elicits an emotional response in me. From electric, fluorescent pop colors to subdued earth colors to tonal expanses, I note my perception transmits different moods according to color variation. Abstraction in drawing allows me to interlace color, form, line and pattern. It is a mysterious language in tune with exemplifying the qualities of color and light.
I appreciate combining watercolor, pastel and pencil on paper to regard color and light in its variety of reflective, absorbed, diffused or opaque faculties.
