Janette Kahil
Artist Statement
Resume
My mental happy place is a day of painting that begins with finding a scene that fascinates me. I usually work from photos that I examine for shapes, shadows, patterns, light, and colors. I do a rough thumbnail sketch, and then decide which medium suits the motif. For me art mediums are like a smorgasbord, and I often switch it up to keep inspired. I take workshops and classes each year to continue learning and getting new ideas.
My goal is for the viewer to feel the joy of the landscape and love of local heritage through my work.
Janette Kahil is a Catskill Mountains native and has had the privilege of studying painting with various local artists including many from the Woodstock School of Art. Janette has exhibited regularly in group shows in the Hudson Valley as well as Connecticut. She is a member of the Olive Library Art Committee, WAAM and the Olive Sr Art Group.
