Carol Pepper-Cooper
Artist Statement
Resume
My works are meditations on what it feels like
for me to flow in and out of dreams. Although in
some of my works one may recognize objects,
the world I aim to present cannot be seen by the
naked eye, but rather by the inner eye, which
transfigures all it sees. Ever since I was a young
woman, I was fascinated by the flow of energy in
nature, and now, growing older, I sense that
energy as a function of the flow of time,
transforming us all. That energy is what I try to
present, whether it’s with the rhythms of black
and white, or with color that makes space
ambiguous. Either way, my aim is to draw the
viewer into the mystery of what is felt – but
unseen.
