Barbara Westermann is a sculptor and installation artist. Her sculptures, prints, and drawings are minimalist and conceptual, with an emphasis on social sculpture, urban planning, geometry, geophysical mapping, and music. Barbara, a long-tome resident of New York City and Berlin, now lives in the Hudson Valley. She uses site-specific work that involves sculpture, prints, architecture, and engineering. She uses sculpture to ‘embody’ utilitarian objects. She has recently continued an artists’ practice while teaching, including a long run teaching ‘Materiality and Social Sculpture’ at the new School and later at the Rhode Island School of Design.
